Navy Seal Rob O'Neill set to address AFAF 12th Annual Salute to our Troops!

Retired Navy Seal Rob O’Neill, has been announced by AFAF as the keynote speaker for the charity’s 12th Annual Salute to our Troops.

AFAF Golf Classic

Mr. O’Neill, one of the country’s most highly decorated veterans, has become a leading speaker on anti terrorism and military strategy while also pursuing a career in broadcast journalism as a FOX News contributor.

The former Navy Seal, has more than 400 combat missions.

Registration for AFAF’s Salute to our Troops and Golf Classic is SOLD OUT!

6th Annual Military Appreciation Golf Tournament!
Tournament director Fred Nothdurft announced AFAF’s 6th Annual Military Appreciation Golf Tournament will be held Monday November 23, 2015 at the Classic Club in Palm Desert.

The tournament brings together active duty military from southwestern U. S. bases with civilian sponsors for a fun filled day. The event is planned as a way to recognize the service and commitment of our military to insuring the freedoms enjoyed by Americans.

The military will receive hundreds of gifts arranged through Coachella Valley retailers. Fred and many others work for a full year to secure donation of the gifts.

Civilians can play and sponsor one or more military to play in the event or if not available to play can be a sponsor for the troops.

The well know Classic Club provides a wonderful day beginning with a delicious breakfast followed by play on a championship golf course and a fantastic buffet lunch to wrap up the day. Click HERE to read the rest of this article.

Thanksgiving…Good Food, Good Fun, Good Times for Everyone!

Sign Ups Beginning for Marines and Host Families

AFAF’s Annual Adopt a Marine for Thanksgiving Program has been announced by the charity with sign ups available for Coachella Valley residents. 

Now in its 9th year, the day promises to provide good food, good fun and good times for participating host families and Marines.

AFAF Adopt a Marine

AFAF started the program to provide a home away from home for Marines who are spending their first Thanksgiving away from their family.  AFAF President Walt VanBenthuysen said it is not unusual for families and our American Heroes to say this was their best Thanksgiving ever!

AFAF 2014 Military Grants Exceed $200,000

Over 2 Million Since Start!


American Friends of our Armed Forces recently announced it will make over $200,000 in grants to military organizations during 2014.

The organizations receiving grants provide family support programs at both 29 Palms and Camp Pendleton Marine Bases.

March Salute to our Troops Draws Over 100 Supporters

Top Marine and Army Officers Address Guests

More than 100 guests arrived the evening of March 4, 2014 to honor and salute America’s Troops.  The guests were greeted by the Indio High School Marching Band and the Desert Hot Springs High School Cadets.

Attending as honored guests were Marine Lt General Richard Zillmer (ret), Marine Colonel Jay Bargeron and Army Major Ed Pulido (ret).  Each of these distinguished officers addressed the group following a gourmet dinner provided by the culinary staff at Toscana Country Club.

Salute to our Troops

The officers spoke of their recent experiences leading troops in Irag and Afghanistan.  Major Pulido, a wounded warrior, spent more than two years recovering from combat injuries, including the loss of limbs. General Zillmer addressed the needs for America’s forces in the years to come while Colonel Bargeron described the training programs and development that make today’s Marines the most accomplished fighting force in the world.

AFAF  founder Walt VanBenthuysen thanked each of the distinguished guests for their service and military leadership.
